The Premier League round 8 starts off on Saturday with the two former champions ( Chelsea and Leicester ) facing each other at Stamford Bridge. The Blues started their season very impressively under their new manager Antonio Conte winning four matches out of four and was toe to toe to Man City at the top of the table, however, Conte’s dream start didn’t go for so long after they failed to win in three successive games against Swansea, Liverpool and Arsenal but they managed to get back to winning ways just before the international break beating Hull City away from home with two goals to nil.
The champions come to The Bridge with their last game against Chelsea still in mind after they wasted a 2-0 lead at half time to end up losing 2-4 after extra time to get knocked out of the League Cup, So revenge will definitely the first motivation to snatch the three points from Chelsea at their home.
With the Champions League in mind Leicester’s manager Claudio Ranieri seems to be more focused on the European glory rather than the Premier League, this seemed very clear when he subbed off Jamie Vardy and Riad Mahrez at half time when he was losing to Manchester United a couple of rounds ago, on the contrary, Chelsea’s poor season last year can actually be a positive this season having not to worry about any European competition to take their focus away from the league. The game is expected to have goals in it as both teams’ strikers Costa and Slimani are looking sharp at the moment. It will be a very tough game with neither side able to take full control so we expect over 2.5 goals.
Head to head
The two blue teams have faced each other five times in the past three years. Chelsea have easily dominated the meetings between the two teams up until Leicester’s extraordinary season last year where they [Leicester] managed to beat Chelsea 2-1 at Leicester and got a draw at the Bridge.
