After their shocking loss in the opening game of the African Cup of Nations, Morocco will not be happy with anything other than the three points when they play Togo at the Stade d’Oyen in the second round of Group C.
Despite having the better part of possession in their game against Congo, Morocco have lost the game 1-0. They were very poor in creating chances to open up the Congo defensive wall. The team is now battling to survive the AFCON group stages and any thing but the win on Friday will put the team in danger of getting knocked out.
Morocco are now sitting at the bottom of the group behind Ivory Coast and Togo. This game is crucial for Morocco as they will play Ivory Coast in their third game. The Ivorian team have won the last version of the competition in 2015 and is one of the favorites to win this year as well.
The other side qualified to the finals as second to their qualifying group. They were two points behind the group winners Tunisia and a point ahead from Liberia. Togo’s best record was in 2013 when they reached the quarter-finals.
Their most famous, and controversial player, is with no doubt Emmanuel Adebayor. The ex-Arsenal attacker returned to the international after retiring following an awful attack on the team bus. Adebayor is currently a free agent which shows how tough things could get for Togo.
