After relegating to the Championship, Rafael Benitez’s journey back to the top flight hasn’t been the easiest so far. Although Newcastle has won 7 games, drew one and lost three, they find themselves third in the Championship with 22 points, three points behind Huddresfield (25 points).
Newcastle has only lost one game since the end of August in all competitions so the Magpies will hope to continue their run with another win on Saturday. The home side will miss their holding midfielder Anita due to suspension, so it will be interesting to see how Rafa is going to do without him. Attacking wise, Newcastle has no problems whatsoever, they are currently the strongest attacking force in the championship with 22 goals scored since the start of the season.
The visitors, on the other hand, are yet to find their form. They have won five games, drew three and lost three, struggling to win away from home with only one win. Brentford has held Wigan to a goalless draw in their last game after dominating most of the possession but with no real sharpness in the final third.
Both teams have very bright English strikers who are second and third on the top scoring sheet in the Championship so far this season. Dwight Gayle (Newcastle) and Scott Hogan (Brentford) have scored 7 goals each putting them in the second top scoring strikers after Tammy Abraham (8 goals), and will be looking to add to their goal tally to help their teams to get the three points, so it should be interesting to see how they match up.
