After 5 games in the league without a win, Watford will be looking to get the best of their team when they host Middlesbrough at the Vicarage Road in the 21st round of the Premier League.

The hosts have been in a very difficult situation in the last few weeks. Watford have failed to win any of their last 5 Premier League games. The team have collected a total of 1 point from a possible 15 in their last 5 league games. Their last game in the Premier League finished in a 2-0 defeat to Stoke away from home.

Watford are sitting in 14th place in the league table with 22 points from 6 wins, 4 draws and 10 losses. They have scored 23 goals and conceded 36 since the start of the season.

Valon Behrami has struggled with injuries since Christmas but could return to action here, while Tom Cleverley, who re-joined the club on loan in the week, could be handed a second debut straight away due to the number of injuries Watford are currently dealing with. Craig Cathcart was forced off after 16 minutes of Watford’s FA Cup win over Burton at the weekend and appears unlikely to recover in time for Saturday. Jose Holebas and Heurelho Gomes both missed the tie completely due to illness but are expected back this weekend.

The visitors are not in a much better situation than the hosts at the moment. Middlesbrough have also been very poor in recent weeks. The team have only won once in the last 5 league games. They have collected 4 points from a possible 15 in that same period. Their last game in the Premier League was against Leicester City at home where they drew 0-0.

Middlesbrough are sitting in 16th place in the league table with 19 from 4 wins, 7 draws and 9 losses. They have scored 17 goals and conceded 22 since the start of the season.

Daniel Ayala was sent off in their 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup third round at the weekend and will serve a three-match ban starting this weekend.
Victor Valdes hasn’t featured in Middlesbrough’s last two matches but has returned to training and should be recalled between the sticks. Gaston Ramirez and Antonio Barragan both missed the cup victory and have been ruled out here. Viktor Fischer has returned to training isn’t expected to start having not featured since before Christmas. Despite being free to leave the club on loan, Aitor Karanka hinted Stewart Downing could start on Saturday.
